Ideas for School Food Drives

These are simple ideas your school can do to support the Salvation Army’s local Food Pantries as part of the Triad Holiday Challenge:

  • Buck Hunger” – invite each student to bring in $1 to contribute to the Triad Holiday Challenge. Each dollar can be converted by the Salvation Army into 3 cans of food!
  • Set up a fun competition between classes (for each grade or for the school) and share the top three classes in food and funds collection during daily announcements each day.
  • Put special focus on Most Needed Items on certain days, e.g., Mac & Cheese Monday or Tuna Fish Tuesday.
  • Have your  Student Council representatives/class representatives collect food and money before school from kids getting dropped off in the car line and arriving by bus.
